Toys - Lego

If you're relatively young, Lego is this account for range of toys that you could make just about anything from. The kits that are available today are just mind boggling. But it wasn't all the time like that. There was a time when Lego didn't have sets. They were just a bunch of blocks that you put together any way you liked. As a matter of fact, Lego goes a lot farther back than most citizen realize.

Even though Lego technically came into being in 1916, the first Lego toys were not made until 1932. Their first toys were cars, trucks and piggy banks. They were nothing like what we're used to today. The actual Lego name wasn't official until 1934. It came from a Danish phrase that meant "play well". The founder of Lego, Kirk Christiansen, was known as a very kind hearted man who wanted to make toys that poorer children could afford. This was the main infer that he even went into the business.

Lego

The first Lego building brick toys that we're well-known with today weren't made until 1947. One of the first of these toys was a truck that you could put together and then take apart to put back together again. The bricks snapped together. The blocks were made out of cellulose acetate as opposed to the tasteless wooden bricks that most other toys were made from. In 1953 these bricks were given the official name "Lego Bricks".

In the 1950s the bricks were improved upon because the capability of the blocks to lock together was limited. Hollow tubes were added to the underside of the bricks to help them lock together a dinky better. This also added some much needed support to these bricks. Finally, in 1958, Christiansen died. The enterprise almost died with him. But his partner decided to go on and continue to run the company. Otherwise this may have been the end of Lego.

In the 1960s we were given the first Lego wheels that could be added to the cars and trucks. Before these wheels were created the car and truck tires were blocks, just like the rest of the vehicle. while that time, Lego started to make toys that were targeted to preschoolers. This line went over very well with the kids. ultimately in 1963, the blocks were made out of Abs plastic and are still made from this plastic even today. Then in 1964, for the very first time, schooling manuals were provided for their toys.

In 1969 an offshoot of Lego, the Duplo system, can to be. These blocks were much bigger than the Lego blocks, which made them safer for young children, the main infer they were made in the first place. However, even though the Duplo theory was made for small kids, the two systems are compatible with each other and can be mixed together.

Over the next 30 plus years, the Lego theory became very elaborate. Whole kits depicting various scenes could be bought and put together such as the 1988 model of London, the 1989 Pirate series and more recently, the Knights Kingdom in 2004.

Today, Lego is one of the largest manufacturers of children's toys in the whole world. And just think, it all started from a bunch of plastic blocks.

Lego Pirates Of The Caribbean tell

Oh come on now, why are you here? What's the point in me writing any of this down, it's about a Lego game. You know you're going to like it, it's in your veins. Ever since the dawn of mankind, our Dna has been harboured to hunt, mate and slay Sticklebrick aficionados. Traveller's Tales have been using this instinct for years now, developing plastic based parodies that are as fascinating and addictive as Starburst cocaine. Still, it's a format that keeps many excited at the prospects of what favourite film franchise could be coated in chokeable hazards, and this time, it's the turn of Lego Pirates Of The Caribbean.

Lego Pirates Of The Caribbean suitably focuses on all four films in the franchise and recreates them in blocky detail, and is possibly the most true representation of a franchise to date. In some cases, cut scenes replicate the films' shot for shot with their own cheeky charm to boot. The parody is ripe throughout and is sure to tickle the funny bone of young and old alike with slapstick charm and clever wit. Traveller's Tales melds the two together very well, helpful looking as the humour of both franchises approximately go together hand in hand like they were meant for each other, albeit all the rum's gone and been substituted by tea.

Lego

Nothing much has truly changed. The simplicity of all the Lego games that enticed kids and adults alike remains ever gift throughout, and the basic platforming and puzzle solving mechanics are as enjoyable as ever. However, if feels as though there have been missed opportunities with the swashbuckling topping. Combat still only relies on bashing one button, and not a lot else. Could there not have been some form of dueling mini-game in keeping with the theme? The constant square bashing is heavily shielded by the laurels of 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it', but after so many Lego games making the creative team 21st Century experts in platforming, it unmistakably can't hurt to spice up the recipe of combat a bit.

Your allies are adequate with different means to fight off treasure hunters, but it all relies on the same button bashing formula. Thankfully, should you be playing alone (and if you only play online, then you'll have no choice), the ally A.I. Has been improved to near perfection to aid you in co-operative puzzles and dare not hinder your progress. Some limited issues kick in, however, with swapping to different members of your crew. Your party can now increase from the traditional two, but attempting to fast swap in the middle of the cast in your roster often results in selecting the wrong character. You can halt and settle on from a character wheel to be more specific, but do this within mid-battle and you will die and lose some of your hard earned treasure. With infinite lives, this is only a small complaint, but slightly frustrating nonetheless.

Still ridiculously addictive, brilliantly fun and unexpectedly laugh out loud funny on occasions

Each level is littered with collectibles and treasure to unearth from demolishing the property of the innocent. Tons of inexpressive prizes nestling away in the oddest nooks and crannies have approximately as much of a staple of the series as the light hearted parody and cutesy presentation, yet there's a stronger emphasis on treasure this time around, and rightly so. Jack Sparrow roams the levels with his trusty compass, opening up a mini-game that spans over levels in order for you to crusade for buried treasure...and trash. Uncovering Lego fragments to build can lead to you gaining even more in the way of 'Studs' the game currency, or more importantly pieces of Minikits, allowing you to build any ships in bottles for a lovely decorative corollary in your port.

Your port is a reflection of your success in pillaging, and acts as your main Hub throughout the films. Should scavenging through means of aesthetic delight not be to your tastes, the main reasons for completing quests and hoarding figurines is for gold bricks, the key to unlocking more levels, more characters and more sections of the port to explore. In any place you turn, you're being graciously awarded for plainly playing, and once you begin unlocking things, it can become incredibly hard to stop.

It's pretty clear that Disney have shoved their affect in by their wallet with the improved graphics. All things has been given a cinematic filter and there's a heavier emphasis on the character animations to truly figure their unique traits. Jack Sparrow's nigh on drunken flailing never fails to amuse whilst darting colse to levels and the slapstick animations never fail to amuse. Even the limited grunts from Sparrow and Will seem to replicate that of Depp and Bloom's eerily well. Alongside the pitch exquisite soundtrack throughout the game, and you've got more of a remake than a parody.

So, although it employs basically the same tactics as every other Lego parody under the sun, Lego Pirates Of The Caribbean is still ridiculously addictive, brilliantly fun and unexpectedly laugh out loud funny on occasions. There are mild frustrations which kick in every so often, but in no way hinder any enjoyment and the cons that have been mentioned in so many Lego games before hand such as poor A.I. Have ultimately been fixed. Experts in the field of Lego platforming will probably find this a short trip and administrate to blitz through the Gold Bricks it has to offer, but enjoyable nonetheless. Whether you'd be a fan of the films or fan of the games as a whole, this is a greater video game spin-off than any of the actual fleshy cash-ins.

Lego Minotaurus Game

Lego Minotaurus Game is all about Greek myths and modern creativity. It remains an arresting story and a great game, even though the primary story has been modified a bit. Secret deep inside a labyrinth, the mythical Minotaur protects a Secret temple. To win, you have to be the first to lead your heroes to the temple, avoiding the Minotaur and skillfully placing walls to block the path of your opponents. Rules are straightforward and straightforward. The basic game plays fast, and often can be completed in 30 minutes - a advantage if your child considers sitting in one spot for more than a few minutes to be a form of torture. Minotaurus also happens to be someone else in the series of Lego games that encourage players to alter the game board and game rules. The game comes with 1 Dice where the walls/obstacles are placed, and 12 micro-figures, construction instructions and a rule booklet. Total comes to 224 pieces.

A quintessential house game, Lego Minotaurus can also be played alone. But it undoubtedly shines and is far more educational when parents or grandparents play as well. After all, it's the grownups that can tell the real story of the Minotaur while playing the game. It is a great excuse to talk about Greek stories and myths that were the cradle and common patrimony of the Western Civilization. The goal of the Minotaurus game is to get your heroes to the center of the board first. But there are hedges and walls making a maze that you have to wade through. You roll the die and go that number of spaces. Depending on the outcome of the roll, you can also move the Minotaur 8 spaces, hopefully taking out one of your opponents and sending him back to the start. If the die lands on grey, then you move a grey wall - you can block your opponents' path, keep the Minotaur from reaching you, or open the road for Minotaur to get to your opponents. The strategies can get quite involved and interesting, especially if you form teams.

Lego

One way to slow down the game and make it more arresting is to need that all 3 heroes belonging to a player reach the center before a player can win. This results in more opportunity to block off opponent's paths, or to get the Minotaur to do it's nasty deed.

A Closer Look at the New Lego Board Games

Lego has been in the building-toy line for some time and as part of that success, they have occasionally branched into other areas as well. One of the areas they have been thriving in is games. The Lego computer games for Star Wars, Batman, Indiana Jones and now Harry Potter have been very thriving and fun as well.

But Lego have another sort of game on the market, one that receives a lot less publicity these days- board games. For the last year or so hints have been appearing that Lego would bring out a range of board-games based around their various themes including Castles, Space, Atlantis and even licensed themes like Harry Potter. But who plays these anymore and would they be any good?

Lego

Well it turns out many people still enjoy board games, especially families. And are they any good? Lego seems to think so because they didn't just release one, they have designed and produced a total of 18 titles so far. They are all driven by rolling dice rather than switching on computers and involve a range of skill sets that will challenge and entertain house member of all ages.

Being Lego there is of course a building element to all the games and this is a great way to get younger fans into game play beyond computers. They all require more than one player so are a excellent fit for families who want to join together after work and school. So far all the titles have been very well received with beloved titles including Minotaurus, Monster 4 and Lava Dragon.

Each title is unique in its layout and objective and it is a credit to the designers that they industrialized so many games with such differing themes. Most games have playing times, of approximately 15 minutes so are fast paced and don't require alot of time commitment from players, unless of course you get addicted and the winner is the first to reach four games!
